Joe Biden Comes Up Short
President Biden had one job to do Monday: Set a clear path to defeating the Judicial Coup. He failed. Thus, he's failed as our President, and should step down to allow Kamala Harris to lead.
Hello, friends,
When the Judicial Coup happened yesterday, I laid out a plan by which Biden could squash the coup. It was a simple enough plan, but it wasn’t the only thing he could do.
If he didn’t want to embrace the powers he was given, he could have, for example, sat down with numerous organizations like MoveOn and planned a July 4th protest effort the likes of which America had never seen.
Instead, at his 7:45 PM EDT speech, yesterday, he spoke for about five to seven minutes, said virtually nothing of substance, proposed no path forward other than “vote,” took no questions from the press, and hasn’t made a big stink about anything else he’s planning to do about it except take an interview a week later.
This is an inexcusable dereliction of duty.
Joe Biden is not fit to be President of the United States in this crisis, and should not run for re-election.
What’s More, We Got Our Polling In
After Biden’s terrible debate performance, I made clear that I wasn’t sure what Biden should do vis-a-vis calls for him to drop out. I made clear I didn’t have the necessary facts to offer an opinion, and put forward a clear path for him to demonstrate that the debate wasn’t conclusive.
Among my recommendations was that Biden needed to do a full-court blitz of events against SCOTUS decisions. At the time, the target was Chevron, because I didn’t think SCOTUS would legalize a dictatorship. SCOTUS legalized a dictatorship.
To Biden’s credit, he tried a little on Monday.
Sadly, as outlined above, he failed miserably.
Then the results of post-debate polling started to come in: CNN says the polling hasn’t changed, with Trump enjoying a 49%-43% lead. Some polls I’ve seen put Biden at 45% to Trump’s 44% (where Biden gained 1 whole point).
Now, New Republic (a news agency I have heard of) is citing internal DNC polls obtained by Puck News (an agency I had not heard of before today) (that also paywalls its articles), and from what I’ve seen those polls are bad.
Biden is down up to 10 points in states he absolutely needs to win to win re-election. It would take a tremendous effort to turn the poll numbers around. It would take the kind of effort that it would take to fight the Supreme Court’s Judicial Coup. It would take the kind of effort Biden has just failed at.
So What Next?
On July 22nd of 2016, I wrote an article pleading with the DNC’s Superdelegates to appoint Bernie Sanders since he polled a lot better against Trump and, frankly, was our best shot at winning. They did not.
I was right, and Hillary Clinton lost. Donald Trump won, and now we’re here.
Now, I am calling on the Democratic establishment to recognize what has become obvious: Joe Biden is not able and/or willing to deal with the Fascist threat this country faces. He is behaving as if this is just business as usual, as evidenced by his actions after the Judicial Coup of 2024.
Maybe I’m wrong this time, and maybe Joe can sort himself out. Maybe he has a super secret plan that will defeat Trump once and for all.
But since I don’t see that? And since the numbers are all radically against him? And since I haven’t seen any other super secret plans of his work so far in the past four years?
He needs to go.
If he’s on the ballot in November, of course I’ll vote for him.
But for the good of this nation, for the good of this world, he needs to step down.
Kamala Harris should be our next President of the United States.
